THE FIFTY-SEVEN
Fifty-seven individual lives.
The number gets attention, but it is not the whole story.
Each person who passed through Cedar Hill brought a different history, personality, need, hope, and experience. No single account can speak for everyone.
Their stories belong to them.
Every person connected to Cedar Hill owns their own story. This site will not tell those stories without permission.
Ted can share what he remembers and what the experience meant in his life. Others may choose to speak in their own time, in their own words—or not at all.
Both choices deserve respect.
Making room for first-person stories
If members of the fifty-seven or people directly connected to Cedar Hill choose to contribute, their accounts should be presented with informed consent, clear attribution, and control over what is shared.
The purpose is not to turn private lives into content. It is to preserve history without taking ownership of someone else’s experience.
