About
Born from the pages of The Light in the Window and the life of Theodore “Ted” Johnson, this site is more than an author’s platform—it’s a movement.
My mission is to raise awareness, inspire action, connect resources, and advocate for foster youth, struggling families, and those searching for hope, healing, and a second chance.
Together, we can be the light in the window for someone who needs it most.
About the Blog
Welcome to The Light in the Window Blog.
This blog was created to raise awareness, inspire action, and offer hope to those affected by foster care, family instability, homelessness, addiction, trauma, and the many challenges facing vulnerable youth and families today.
My name is Theodore “Ted” Johnson. As a child, I experienced many of these struggles firsthand. After losing my mother at a young age, being separated from my siblings, and entering an orphanage, I spent much of my teenage years searching for stability, belonging, and hope. Along the way, I faced learning disabilities, personal loss, and obstacles that led many to believe I would never succeed.
They were wrong.
The lessons I learned during those years inspired my book, The Light in the Window. What began as a story about resilience and second chances has grown into something much larger—a mission to advocate for those whose voices are often unheard.
This blog is more than a place to share stories. It is a platform for awareness, collaboration, and change.
My goal is simple: to help shine a light on problems that too often remain hidden while promoting solutions that create hope and opportunity.
Whether you are a former foster youth, foster parent, educator, social worker, employer, policymaker, person of faith, or simply someone who cares, I invite you to join the conversation.
Together, we can raise awareness, share resources, inspire change, and become the light in the window for someone who needs it most.
Because every child deserves hope.
Every family deserves support.
And every life deserves a chance.
Inspired by the life and experiences of Theodore “Ted” Johnson, this platform is dedicated to raising awareness of foster care, homelessness, family instability, workforce challenges, and the power of second chances.
Hope. Healing. Advocacy.
